Abstract [en]
The aim of this essay is to rearrange overview of three schemas of determination in English, the articles the, a and Ø. Traditional grammars classify nouns and try to establish rules for their determination. The presentation of this essay is based on the comparison of the two senses (generic and specific) for each article and extends to cases where the value of the article is not easily determined between generic and specific.
