Abstract [en]
Maersk Sealand (Maersk) recently launched a new product, a rail shuttle service in Europe. Therefore they needed to start gathering information on which they could base their strategic decisions concerning the intra-European market. The thesis aimed to describe and explain Maersk Sealands current position inside the intra-European transport market and the main outside factors that has influence on the market. A framework of accepted theories on the analyses of industries and markets was presented and the empirical information was gathered by the authors during their work placement at Maersk Agensy s.r.o in Prague. The conclusions of the thesis was that the current market situation offers some strong possibilities for Maersk to strengthen their position on the intra-European transport market
