Abstract [sv]
A tank surveillance system, in accordance with the commissioner Exxon’s demands has been built with the aid of several different data transfering techniques. The very first thing done, was drawing a principle sketch describing the system. The project then proceeded by determing which ultrasonic sensor to use. Once this was established, next part was to find information about which transfer medium to use to get data between sensor and server. After examing different methods the one chosen was RS-485 and a node used to delegate the information between sensor and server was also chosen. The server receives data from the RS-485 net and transforms the information into a, by the server, understood datatype. This data is then stored in a database for the purpose of maintaining a history. The server is then called from a Java applet which provides its users with the current tanklevel information which is the aim for the system.
