Abstract [sv]
This research examines the democratization of Africa. The purpose is to understand why the consolidation of democracy has experienced problems. By studying the four most free democraties looking at political rights in each country. I will try to understand the complexes of the democratization in Africa. By using the comparative method I am comparing the four most democratic states in Africa which are classified by the organisation Freedom house considering political freedom. My study is comparitve in two ways; first I am comparing these four countries with each other in order to find common varibles. Secondly I am comparing the similarities between these countries by using the theory of dependence and the theory of modernization. The purpose with the study is to examine which of these two theory has the highest validity for explaining development of the four strongest democracies in Africa.
