2000 (English)Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
Abstract [en]
This essay investigates Chinas possibility to compete on foreign markets with domestic product development. To be able to investigate this problem we visited ten companies during six weeks, autumn 1999. The companies were located in the areas around Shanghai and ShenZhen. The objective with the trip was to get a deeper understanding for product development in a Chinese point of view, by investigating the organisations of the companies, quality aspects and market strategy besides product development. The conclusions are that China has a couple of years left before they can start to compete with their own product development. The difficulties depend mostly on the limited contacts with foreign countries, which results in limited market knowledge and limited quality understanding. Today the Chinese mainly compete with production and product price because of the access of cheap labour.
