Abstract [en]

This study examined how certain macroeconomic key indicators affected m&a activity in France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom during the period of 1980-2000. The objectve of the study was to find out whether there was a correlation between m&a activity and the following economic key indicators; Real GDP, Money Supply, Interest and Inflation rates, and Share Index. The conclusions were that there was a correlation between the m&a activity and the most of the various key indicators in France, Germany and the United Kingdom. However, the exception in the study was Italy, where there was no correlation between the m&a activity and the various key indicators.
