Abstract [sv]
As a complement to traditional day care centres some with special profiles are established. One is the called “in all weathers” day care centre where the children spend most of their time outdoors. Children at these day care centres seem to to have less cases of illness compares to the children at traditional day care centres. The children´s pattern of motion at these day care centres has never been investigated. The aim of this study was to describe children´s fundamental pattern of motion at a traditional- and an “all weathers” day care centre. This was done by using a none parsicipant observation technique. A schedule over the pattern of motion was used. The different movements investigated, were: jumping, running, rotating, pulling, crawling, climbing, walking and balancing. It appeared that walking and running were the two most common pattern of motion at both day care centres. For further research it would be interested to investigate children during a longer time and a different places.
