Högervåg eller postmodern revolution?: En studie angående förändringar av SAP:s ideologi
Halmstad University, School of Social and Health Sciences (HOS).
2001 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
Abstract [sv]
In the essay I discuss and analyse the ideological changes of the Swedish Social Democratic Party, through a number of content analyses. The analyses include analytical references based upon ideal types of neoliberalism, of traditional social democracy and dimensional analyse of social democracy and postmodernism. The purpose of the essay was to make clear if the alterations of the party´s ideology could be explained as an adaption to the postmodern revolution, as described mostly by Ronald Ingelhart, or an effect of the “shift to the right”. What I found out was that the changes in the party programs of SAP, those of 1975, 1990 and the proposal for new party program of 2000, were mainly an effect of so called postmodern revolution. The ideology of SAP has changed from being an ideology mainly based material values and the conditions of modern society, to an ideology that stresses the importance of being aware of the new cocietal conditions that postmodern society brings with it. The social democratic ideology clings on to its basic values, but has changed a number of its most vital standpoints, in a direction that seems to be an adjustment to the postmodern society and the postmodern voters
