Abstract [sv]

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the first stage in the Swedish training programme for football coaches, which has recently been modified and carried out for the first time this spring. A further purpose was to examine participants goals and effects of, and if they have intentions to proceed in the training stage. The instrument used was questionnaire containing 50 questions. An observation as a full participant was also made as a complement. The study was made on 87 participants divided on four courses, all carried out in the southwest of Sweden. The participants mean age was 34.4 years (sd 8.2) and were females. The results showed that the course was very good. Eighty percent had the intention of proceeding to stage two, and the most common goals of training was to work as a football coach at a higher level than they are now. The effects of the course experienced by participants were a lot of new ideas and strategies to run a training session. The conlusion of this study is that the Swedish football association is on the right way with a realy good first stage. Although they need to try make smaller groups in the future courses.
