Abstract [en]
Mexico City is one of the biggest cities in the world with its population close to 20 million people. A city of this size obviously has a large water demand, and Mexico City has a demand of approximately 60 m3/s. The fact that the city is situated in a closed basin, 2200 m above sea level, surrounded by volcanic bed-rock complicates the situation drastically. The purpose of this thesis is to clarify the situation of water supply in Mexico City. Identify the problems and solutions and by this encourage further studies of water problems in Mexico City and the rest of the world. With the help of literature studies, interviews, and field studies we have mapped out the distribution and wastewater system, identified the largest problems and looked at the different solutions made and needed for the future.
