Abstract [sv]
The purpose of this project was to study a number of different forms of modulation and how they behave under the influence of disturbances and noise. Included in this study are phase shift modulation, frequency shift modulation and several variations of these. The study also focuses on sample-time and hold-time in the Sample and hold circuit. In the model the signal is a discrete pulse form which is modulated according to the form of modulation that is used. Noise is added to simulate disturbances that occur while transmitting through the air. The received signal is being sampled and the message is detected. Then the original transmitted message is compared to the received message and the bit error rate (BER) is calculated. The sample-time, hold-time and noise-strength are manually changed in the model to see how these parameters effect the BER. The tool used for simulation and plotting is MatLab.
