Abstract [en]
Automation gets more common i the standard home. Smart homes need a ateway to connect the automated electronics to the reidential network. Java Embedded Server (JES) is a Java powered solution to host different services on the gateway, such as communication, adio/video on demand, and information deployment. JES con be used in any non-time critical embedded system such as fuel pumps, and other automatic machines. In this project a prototype of a client/server system for home automation was built. The main purpose was to evaluate JES as a framework for the home gateway. The project examines the interface towards connected devices and the communication techniques used.
