Abstract [sv]
1998, the government of Sweden decided that the Institute of People Health should accomplish a physical year of activity in 2001. The decision was made in the light of the fact that constant alarming reports of the physical inactivity were presented within the Swedish people. As a consequence of this, all county councils were assigned means to establish the physical year of activity and this research purpose is being inquired to guide the county council in Halland how they could use the assigned means. To present information what would stimulate young people to begin or increase physical activity is the most central goal for this study. The investigated group is a selection from the senior high schools first grade in Halmstad. In the selection, considerations were taken to the divided study- and occupationally oriented programs and sex. This were made so that the subgroup a could be compared and because the investigated group should be representive for the total population, that is all senior high schools first grade in Halmstad. The collections of data were made by a survey-research where the data were collected with help from a questionnaire. The choice of method is based in the main of a whish to generalize from the result. The theoretical point of departure in the research is need-, socialization- and motivation theory. These theories are possible explanations why a person begins to practice physical activity. * more persons activity themselves more often if the activity-level is low. * activities that are preferred in spare time are walking/jogging, weight training and outside ball games. * approximately 60% of the respondents is being of the opinion that they would increase their physical activity if the prices in local establishment (for exampel in workout gymnasium and swimming baths) is subsidized. * 2/3 of the respondents prefer physical activity in a team/group ahead of individual activities. * inlines-adjusted activities as inlines-hockey rinks inlines-ramps are something that lacks in Halmstad.
