Abstract [sv]

The aim of this study was to evaluate tobaco information to children and adolscents participating in sports in the country of Halland. Two separate quantitative studies, containing similar questions have been used. One was directed towards children and adolescents and the other to their coaches. The participants represented both gender. Two hundred questionnaires directed were distributed among four different sport: soccer, handball, table and orientering. A totalt of 178 questionnaires were completed (91%). The number of coaches who participated were nine. A majority of the children and the adolescents considered that further tobacco information is needed. Almost all of the children and the adolescents and all of the coaches considered that information concerning tobaco in sports movement is positive. The children and the adolscents ranked the three best arenas for tobaco information accordingly; school, sports and parents. The participants defined the impact of tobacco on sporting performance and personal health as the most important knowledge gained from the information received.
