Abstract [en]

This essay concentrates on Anne´s development in the first book in the series - Anne of Green Gables and the aim of the essay is to investigate if Anne of Green Gables is a Bildungsroman or rather a novel of education. The concepts and the difference between them are explained and examples of Anne living up to the standards of these concepts are given. Anne is put in relation to the people surrounding her and her behaviour and development is scrutinised. This analysis has a feminine touch.
