Syftet med uppsatsen är att utreda om fusionen mellan de tre franska bankerna, Société Géne´rale, BNP och Paribas genomfördes enligt modellen Offre Public d´Achat/Offre Public D´ Echange ( OPA/OPE ) eller inte. Modellen ifråga har sitt ursprung från den amerikanska marknaden där den används flitigt. I Sverige är den sällsynt förekommande. I Frankrike har den anammats väl och ses ofta som en användbar modell för fusioner inom bankmarknaden
