Abstract [en]
The object of the dissertation is to study the corporate image. The theory is related to the perspective of small and medium companies operating as an agent or as an importer. The problems defined were: 'How to build a positive international image when there is no suppportive product image?', and 'Does it really pay an agent or an importer to build a corporate image?' The theoretical framework discusses the differenti parts the image consists of, how it is formed, and what is included in the process of forming an image of a company, as well as managing identity and image. The empirical part of the dissertation describes the image-research carried out for the Finnish case-company, Toimex Oy. The most important ways of building an image from this specific perspective are reliability, on time payments, information flow, personal meetings, and personal relations in general.
