Halmstad University, School of Humanities (HUM).
2000 (English)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
Abstract [en]
This essay deals with the development of ten new words on the English language. The words are divided into two different categories, called “Sex and gender” and “Ethnicity”. Three words are not really new, but rather have undergone a process of semantic change, and a big part of the essay deals with these changes. The main point of the essay is to show that changes in language is closely linked to changes in society.
