Abstract [en]
African-American Vernacular English is a major variety of (American ) English that is used in certain social groups. It is an ethnic variety which often is considered to be slang or inappropiate. This variety of English has some special characteristics which makes it very different from the standard language. These differences are dealt hith in this paper chich also can be seen as a basic overview of AAVE. Grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation are the fields where the difference is at its largest and these differences will be illustrated with Hip-Hop and Rap lyrics.
