Abstract [sv]
According to the “Reform of Psychiatry” in Sweden, the psychiatric care has changed to a more open type, closer to the patient´s own environment. This brings new challenges to the psychiatric nurse. Previously ward routines and medical treatments dominated the psychiatric care. Now psychiatric care must maintain a dialouge about professional roles and relations. The aim of this study was to identify factors, which affects the nursing relation. What support and what obstruct the nursing relations are the two questions of this study. Twenty scientific articles have been analysed in order to find supportive and obstructive factors to the nursing relations. These factors were catagorised in four different domains, personal, interactive, structural and educational. The result of this study showed that the nursing relationship is the heart of the psychiatric care and that the nurses´ personal qualities are important to this relation. The nursing education has to support the nurse in viewing the patient as a person. The health care organisation has to remove hierarchy and work for humanity, which means that everybody´s experiences must be taken seriously. This study implicates the importance of further investigations of hos the nurse perceives the circumstances that affects nursing and what the patients really need from psychiatric care.
