Lived experiences of angolan autonomous midwives
Halmstad University, School of Social and Health Sciences (HOS).
1999 (English)Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
Abstract [en]
Cultural and social factors were described as having significant impact on the midwives as well as on the women that they attended. All informants expressed positive sentiments concerning the midwifery profession and defined caring and curing as crucial parts of it. The midwives showed satisfaction bur also concern about the fact that they were autonomous. In order to cope they required further education. The partograph was described as a valuable instrument to monitor the labouring women and they felt it had become indispensable to them. A future survey study may highlight the childbearing population´s experiences of Angolan midwifery-led delivery units.
