Relationsmarknadsföring och Internethandel är två mycket aktuella begrepp. Internet är en ny typ av marknadsföringskanal där skapandet av en relation mellan leverantör och kund är en förutsättning för att lyckas. På Internet är det lättare än någonsin att jämföra erbjudanden mellan olika leverantörer, eftersom tillgången till information är i det närmaste oändlig. Genom att rikta sig till kunden som individ, med kunskap om dennes särskilda behov och önskemål, ökas leverantörens möjlighet att behålla kunden.
