Abstract [sv]
SCALE (Self CALibrating Engine control) is a research-project at Halmstad University. The goal is to develop a neural network based control system that learns to control a car combustion engine. The algorithms for controlling the combustion are executing on a personal computer, which is installed in a SAAB 9000. The computer receives information necessary for the combustion-control from various sensors installed in the engine of the car. The computer executes the control-algorithms and returns the computed values to the control-unit of the car. Since the combustion-control must be handled in real-time, there was earlier no possibility to evaluate the algorithms during driving. To make evaluation during driving possible, another PC was installed. The purpose of the second PC is to receive measurement-values from the control-computer and graphically visualise them. The program which handles this was given the name PRESCALE (PREsentation for SCALE) and is the subject which this thesis treats.
