Analysis of the response signal from the inner ear
Halmstad University, School of Business and Engineering (SET).
1998 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
Abstract [sv]
The goal of this project was to automate the interpretation of the response signal from the inner ear and construct a program which classifies a patient as being ill or healthy. The current method is that a physician makes the diagnosis by visual inspection, calculating the ratio between the “summation potential” and the “action potential” (SP/AP). I have constructed a program which classifies the response signal by using principal components and a simple Perceptron. The program produced the correct diagnosis in 80% of the cases, which was judged acceptable by the physicians involved in the project. In fact, it equals the physician’s performance.
