Abstract [en]
The thesis is an explorative study with the purpose of exploring, identifying and investigating the functions of the board of directors. The study intends to investigate the role of the board of directors in small and medium sized high-technology based companies in a science park environment. It is a comparative study conducted at Teknocenter, Halmstad,Sweden and at Technopark, Trivandrum,India. The chosen sample gives the study a high level of credibility since the firms operate in similar settings in both countries. The study is performed outside the USA and will compare the functions of the board of directors,cross-country between Sweden and India. For further studies on the importance of the board of directors in small and mediumsized companies, it is important to find out more about how they work.
