Abstract [en]

This project was based on a mobile e-mail reader for Ericsson’s mobile phones. The project is developed at the deparment “Product Concept & Assembly Technology” at Ericsson Mobile Communications Lund. The main goal was to modigy the e-mail into an user-friendlier version. Ericsson also wanted to investigate the possibility of eye control technology. This approach was later dropped due to legal problems between Ericsson and the company which where supposed to deliver the technology. Instead the project focused on the implementation of extra features. The six buttons of the original prototype was replaces with a joystick. The interface was programmed with a new graphical system more suitable for this ttype of pointing device. Functions for typing plain text and sending e-mail was also programmed. Earlier the e-mail reader was configured via SMS (Short Message Service) from a website. Now a feature for direct changings of the settings in the e-mail reader was implemented.
