Abstract [en]
Mimik is a microprocessor controlled prosthetic knee. It enables the bearer a greater range activities than other units currently available. To minimize the energy loss in walking, the knee flexes during stance phase. The multi-axial mechanical linkage allows the joint to flex polycentrically a full 180 degress along a carefully designed path. Mimik’s release of stored energy provides good toe clearence during swing phase under varying walking conditions. The prosthetic is suitable for total integration with the bearer such as is available through osseointegration and myoelectric signal extraction.
