Abstract [en]

The purpose of project Tank Lanka is to develop and implement a cocnut oil sediment removal devis, in order to improve the working conditions and coconut oil quality at the company Sandra Oil Mills Ltd. Today the working personel has to jump down into the small settling tank to remove the sedimented sludge with buckets, a job which is health-dangerous and impopular among the workers. The best way to solve the problem seemed to be by using a pujmp, as this would not require any major changes of the existing process. This also was one of Sandra Oil Mills’ wishes. Guided by the expertis from pump manufacturers and sludge handling experts we finally decided on a Diaphragm pump, a pump well suited for the task.
