Abstract [en]
The project originates from an investigation done for Svenska Lyft AB by CBD at Halmstad University. This gave ceratain problem definitions concerning positioning of a crane and a robotic lift which is discussed in this report. This paper discuss different existing non contact distance and position measuring devices. It also discuss different proposed systems for distance measuring and positioning. Furthermore I present my own proposal for such systems. To verify one of my proposal a prototype has been built and tested. The idea of this prototype is to illuminate a piece of retroreflecting tape, referred to as the beacon, attached to an object using a laser cross, and then using a simple picture grabbing system to get the part of the cross that is reflected by the beacon. The width and position of the cross inte the captured image gives the distance to, and divergation from, the center of the beadon.
