Abstract [en]
The aim of this project has been to develop a PVC pipe bending process for St. Anthonys Industries Group at Sri Lanka. Solution: HEATING. A pipe is horizontally placed on two rotating cylinders and above run heating elements fired by LPG. A compressed air-filled rubber tube is placed inside the pipe to prevent coolapse of the pipe. BENDING. The heated pipe is bent over a mould and the bending force for the bigger pipes is applied by a lever. The same mould can be used for various bending angles but each pipe dimension requires one mould. COOLING. Finally quick cooling by a water hose with pressure regulator.
