Abstract [sv]

Education of the patient is used in nursing and health control in order to improve treatment and stimulate the patient in his own care. Included in the profession of the nurse is a responsibility to educate patients. The present study survey was aimed to identify and to clarify what pedagogical tool and inclintion were used by the nurse in her education of the diabetic patient and the patient with acute myocardial infarction. Sixteen reports of studies on scientific evaluated education programs of patients were examinated within the context of an intervention perspective. The examination revealed that the role as well as the specific pedagogic effort of the nurse were often unclear. Furthermore, the examination indicated that a pedagogic concentration towards the patient´s behaviour, with consideration of the patients ideas and attitudes, was most likely to success in improving the patients health and wellbeing. The result of the present survey should be tested in a prospective randomized study.
