Abstract [en]
The interest in active noise control has increase a lot in the recent years, mainly because of the progress in digital signal processing. The principals of actively attenuate sound using destructive interference has been known since the beginning of the 20th centuty, but a successful implementation has not been possible because of the amount of computing power required. This thesis treats the concepts of active noise control and the research done in the area. Important fields such as adaptive control and acoustics are outlined in order to get the reader to understand the underlaying concepts. A summery of other works is done and compared with our own conclusions from experiments done. Finally a solution to an active noise control system implemented in an oil boiler, in order to minimize the radiated sound, is suggested and an experiment done with the oil boiler is presented.
