Abstract [en]

Primex Home Products is a small electrical storage water heater manufacturing company in Madras in India. The water in the area contains a high concentration of salinity and hardness. The lime sticks to the heating element in the water heaters and make them useless, sometimes after only some months. Another problem is electricity shortage and high energy prices. Mr N Ramkumar, the owner of Primex Home Products, wants a solution for these problems and the preliminary outline of this project is to combine the water heater with a solar water heating device and to suggest a solution to the problem with the hard water.
