Abstract [en]
During the 20th century, the emergence of computers marked the beginning of digitization, resulting in more efficient data management and reduced costs. Sweden has long been a leader in technology, providing a competitive advantage through increased efficiency and faster dissemination of new technologies. Automation initially revolutionized the industry and now also the service sector, resulting in a decrease in manually performed tasks and improvement in business strategies and analyses. Despite some challenges with implementation, automation leads to time savings, better resource allocation, and higher quality in accounting, strengthening companies' competitiveness.
Our study aims to understand how automated accounting can affect a company's accounting efficiency and quality. Furthermore, we examine the outcomes of good quality and efficiency in accounting. A quantitative method consisting of 10 interviews was utilized to achieve the study's objectives. Respondents include accountants, individuals in management teams, and employees of companies selling automation services. This variety of respondents has provided us with perspectives from different angles and saturation in data collection.
The conclusions made are that automated accounting contributes to increased efficiency and quality in accounting. This leads to cost savings, the ability to spend time on more value-adding tasks, and credible financial reports that reflects the reality.
