Abstract [sv]

För många högskole- och universitetsstudenter skapar det akademiska skrivandet en komplex och utmanande del av studierna på grund av den unika och formella karaktär som akademiskt skrivande. I takt med utvecklingen av tekniken och artificiell intelligens (AI) har generativ artificiell intelligens (GAI) utvecklats och integrerats i allt fler områden. GAI blev en del av det vardagliga livet och visade sig har stor potential att bidra positivt till studenters akademiska skrivande. Studiens syfte är att undersöka hur GAI-verktyg kan designas för att stödja universitetsstudenter under det akademiska skrivandet. Detta gjordes genom en kvalitativ metodansats där semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes för att samla empiri. Tre användningsområden identifierades för GAI-verktyg i akademiskt skrivande. Användningsområdena var; disponera texten, idégenerering och revidera texten. Studien resulterade i designförslag för hur GAIverktyg kan designas med målet att stödja universitetsstudenters akademiska skrivande. 

Abstract [en]

For many college and university students, academic writing creates a complex and challenging part of their studies due to the unique and formal nature of that type of writing. As technology and artificial intelligence (AI) evolve, generative artificial intelligence (GAI) has been developed and integrated into more and more fields. GAI became part of everyday life and proved to have great potential to contribute positively to students' academic writing. This study aims to investigate how GAI tools can be designed to support students during academic writing. This was done through a qualitative methodological approach where semi-structured interviews were carried out in order to gather empirical evidence. Three uses of GAI tools in academic writing were identified. The areas of use were arranging the text, generating ideas, and revising the text. The study resulted in design suggestions for how GAI tools can be designed to support students' academic writing.
