Abstract [en]

The aim was to describe bullying at the workplace. In-depth interviews with 22 individuals were analysed according to the Grounded Theory method. The findings showed that the origin of bullying was a struggle for power, initiated by value conflicts at the workplace, which is a potential arena for bullying, where the targeted individuals were either strong or vulnerable. This power struggle was transformed into bullying, and the bullies' goal was to reject and expel the victims from the workplace. The process of bullying consisted of slander, deceit, insults and injustice, although sometimes the victims also received social support.
