Optimization of concrete recipe made with crushed aggregate

Abstract [en]

This paper investigate however concrete recipes with a specific type ofcrushed aggregate can be optimized to reduce cement content for concreteand compares it to concrete made with natural fine aggregate. The different aggregate types are sieved, and the particle size distribution curve is made for each one. The specific surface area and fineness modulus are also calculated. Different methods for determining the appropriate aggregate mixture are used, including Fuller’s curve and modified Toufar. Both mortar and concrete tests are performed to determine the water retaining capacity and slump diameter. Regarding the concrete tests, 1 𝑚3 batches are made with a concrete recipe software. Results from these test shows that approximately 13% less cement is needed in concrete made with natural aggregate compared to the one with crushed aggregate to achieve similar properties regarding plastic viscosity and workability. This emphasizes that the crushed aggregate needs to be processed before suitable for concrete production, e.g VSI crushed and/or wet- or dry processed.

Denna artikel undersöker hur betongrecept med en specifik typ av krossad ballast kan optimeras för att minska cementinnehållet för betong och jämför det med betong tillverkad med naturligt fingrus. De olika ballasttypernasilas och ett diagram som visar storleksfördelningen för partiklarna görs för varje grustyp. Den specifika ytan och finhetsmodulen beräknas också. Olika metoder för att bestämma lämplig grusblandning används, inklusive Fullers curve och modified Toufar. Både murbruk och betongtester utförs för att bestämma water retaining capacity och slump-diametern. Med avseende på betongtesterna görs 1 𝑚3- partier med en programvara som genererar färdiga betongrecept. Resultaten från dessa tester visar att det krävs cirka 13% mindre cement i betong tillverkad med naturligt grus jämfört medkrossat grus för att nå jämförbara egenskaper gällande plastisk viskositet och arbetsbarhet. Detta betonar att krossat grus måste bearbetas innan det är lämpligt för betongproduktion, till exempel VSI-krossas och / eller våt- eller torr processeras
