Abstract [en]

This chapter reviews extant research on crisis leadership to establish the current body of knowledge and, on this basis, suggest some promising avenues for future research on crisis leadership in general and crisis leadership in tourism in particular. The focus in this chapter has been put on crisis leadership as it is the leadership of an organization that is normally in charge of the existence and execution of crisis management in general and thus also the possible effects of this crisis management. The chapter applies a systematic literature review covering 66 articles published in peer-reviewed journals. Given the purpose of the book, this chapter tries to learn from extant research to propose someavenues the tourism sector may find useful for addressing the current pandemic and its consequences. © 2022 by Emerald Publishing Limited
