Today, right-wing populism is closely linked to political life and in more and more countriesright-wing populist parties are seen as acceptable to create government coalitions. Since theelection in 2019, they control 19% of the European Parliament and often have the role ofwaveguide on important issues. The purpose of this study is to find out whether authoritarianvalues and anti-immigration have influenced populist values that have led to an increase overtime of right-wing populist parties in the European Parliament in the 2010s.The study aims totest these factors using two multi-regression analyzes using data from the European SocialSurvey (ESS). The ESS is an academically driven multinational survey that has been conductedthroughout Europe since its inception in 2001. After the multi-regression analyzes, their resultswill be compared to see if the explanatory factors have affected the results of the right-wingpopulist parties in the European elections between 2014 and 2019. The study finds that the antiimmigration scale has had a greater impact the rise right-wing populist parties in the EuropeanParliament.
