Bakgrund: Typ 1-diabetes mellitus (T1DM) är en autoimmun sjukdom som kräver livslång hantering. Sjukdomen kräver stor ansträngning från barn och ungdomar. Med stöttning från sjuksköterskor, familj och vänner kan barn och ungdomar med T1DM uppnå en bättre diabeteshantering. Syfte: Studiens syfte var att belysa upplevelsen av professionellt och socialt stöd hos barn och ungdomar med T1DM. Metod: Studien var en kvalitativ litteraturstudie med en induktiv ansats. Resultatet grundades på 11 vetenskapliga artiklar som hittades via två olika databaser. Resultat: Utifrån artiklarna framkom två huvudkategorier: Upplevelsen av professionellt stöd hos barn och ungdomar med Typ 1-diabetes mellitus och Upplevelsen av socialt stöd hos barn och ungdomar med Typ 1-diabetes mellitus. Barn och ungdomar med T1DM upplevde ett stöd från både sjuksköterskor, familj och vänner samtidigt som det framkom att en del barn och ungdomar inte upplevde att de fick det stödet. Konklusion: I litteraturstudien framkom det flera faktorer som medförde ett positivt stöd åt barnen och ungdomarna. Både professioner, familjer och vänner behöver få mer utbildning och information om diabetes. Vidare forskning om stöd för barn och ungdomar med T1DM är nödvändigt för att uppnå en så optimal diabeteshantering som möjligt.

Background: Type-1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is an autoimmune disease that requires lifelong treatment. The disease requires effort of children and adolescents. With support from healthcare professionals, family and friends, children and adolescents with T1DM can achieve a better diabetes management. Aim: The aim of the study was to highlight the experiences of children and adolescents with T1DM of professional and social support. Method: The study was a qualitative literature study with an inductive approach. The result was based on 11 scientific articles from two different databases. Result: Based on the articles, two main categories emerged: The experience of professional support in children and adolescents with Type-1 diabetes mellitus and The experience of social support in children and adolescents with Type-1 diabetes mellitus. Children and adolescents experienced support from healthcare professionals, family and friends but at the same time it emerged that some children and adolescents did not experienced that support. Conclusion: In the literary study, several factors emerged that led to a positive support for children and adolescents with T1DM. Both professionals, families and friends need more education and information about diabetes. Further research on support for children and adolescents with T1DM is necessary to achieve optimal diabetes management.
