Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Tuberkulos var globalt en av de vanligaste orsakerna till mortalitet år 2018. Sjukdomen orsakas av bakterien Mycobacterium tuberculosis, som smittar genom droppsmitta och drabbar vanligtvis lungorna. En god vårdrelation med patienten är viktigt då sjuksköterskor oftast följer patienter med tuberkulos genom sjukdomsförloppet. Sjuksköterskans uppgift är att ge god omvårdnad och arbeta preventivt i samband med tuberkulosbehandling. Syfte: Syftet var att belysa sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda patienter med tuberkulos. Metod: Studien är en allmän litteraturöversikt med induktiv ansats, som grundar sig på nio kvalitativa artiklar. Resultat: I resultatet framkom fem teman: Bristfällig arbetsmiljö, Rädsla och oro, Relationer och kommunikation, Behov av patientundervisning och Rollen som sjuksköterskaKonklusion: Sjuksköterskans erfarenheter visade att arbetsmiljö hade en stor påverkan på omvårdnaden vid tuberkulos. Sjuksköterskorna beskrev en rädsla och oro för smittspridning i samhället, bland patienter och sjuksköterskor. Vårdande relationer samt sjuksköterskans stöd för patienten var av stor vikt i kampen mot sjukdomen. Sjuksköterskorna identifierade sig som frontlinjen mot sjukdomen, med risk för deras egen hälsa, skulle dem plikttroget ge en vård av kvalité.

Abstract [en]

Background: Tuberculosis was globally one of the most common causes of mortalityin 2018. The disease is caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis and is a contagious disease that transmits through droplets and mostly affect the lungs. A good nursing relationship is of great importance, as the nurse’s follow patients in the course of the disease. Some of the nurses’ assignments is to provide good care and to work preventively in relation to tuberculosis treatment. Aim: The aim was to illustrate nurses’ experiences of caring for patients with tuberculosis. Method: The study is a general literature review with an inductive approach, based on nine qualitative articles. Result: The result presents five themes: Inadequate working environment, Fear and concern, Relations and communications, Need for patient education and The role as a nurseConclusion: The nurses’ experience revealed that the work environment had an impact on the performance of nursing that was of great importance. The nurses described a fear and concern for transmission of the disease in the society, among patients and nurses. Nursing relationships and the nurse’s support for the patient was of great importance in the fight against the disease. The nurses identified themselves as the frontline against the disease, with a risk for their own health, they would dutifully provide quality care.
