The Effect of Physical Fatigue on Cognitive Processes Focusing on Sport and Exercise (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The aim of the study was to examine the effect of physical fatigue on cognitive processes(attention, executive functions and working memory). The study was conducted using an experiment with 24 participants (age 18-53). The participants performed cognitive tests Trail Making A and B, Stroop test and Digit Span forwards and backwards) at two occasions, oncein a rested state and once in a physically fatigued state. The results from the two occasions showed no significant differences. Physical fatigue had no major effects on the cognitivefunctions that were measured. Results from the present study combined with results fromprevious studies, indicates that the relationship between physical fatigue and cognitiveprocesses is unclear and needs further research.
