Abstract [sv]

Depression är en folksjukdom som kan drabba vem som helst. Ungefär 350 miljoner människor världen över lider av depression och det är dubbelt så vanligt att kvinnor drabbas. Forskning visar att fysisk aktivitet har en måttlig till stor antidepressiv effekt på depressionssymtom. Syftet med studien var att belysa betydelsen av fysisk aktivitet hos kvinnor med depressiva tillstånd. Metoden var en allmän litteraturstudie med systematiska sökningar i tre databaser. Resultatet baseras på 12 vetenskapliga artiklar och visar att fysisk aktivitet har en positiv inverkan och minskar depressiva symtom hos kvinnor. Fysisk aktivitet tillsammans med andra människor samt känslan av stöd är viktigt för att öka kvinnornas motivation till att träna. Det är av vikt att implementera fysisk aktivitet i omvårdnaden vid depression istället för att till största del behandla med läkemedel. För att det ska kunna implementeras i omvårdnaden behöver sjuksköterskan en utökad kunskap om fysisk aktivitet vid depression.   

Abstract [en]

Depression is a disease that can affect anyone. Approximately 350 million people worldwide suffer from depression, and it is twice as common for women to suffer. Science shows that physical activity has a moderate to high antidepressant effect on depression symptoms. The purpose of this study was to illustrate the importance of physical activity among women with depressive disorders. The method was a public literature review of systematic searches in the three databases. The result is based on 12 scientific articles and shows that physical activity has a positive impact and reduces depressive symptoms in women. Physical activity along with others and the feeling of support is important to increase women´s motivation to exercise. It is important to implement physical activity in the nursing care for depression instead of mostly treat with medications. For this to be possible to implement on a practical level in the health care, the nurse need an extended knowledge about physical activity and its effect in depression.
