Halmstad University, School of Business and Engineering (SET).
2006 (English)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
Abstract [en]
Summary The presence or absence of invasive aquatic species was studied in the Nissan River, the port of Halmstad and the outside of the port of Halmstad, Sweden. The survey was conducted along the wave breakers and the western shore of Nissan. The samples were taken from April 17th to May 11th, 2005 during a period of low tide. The weather during this time was mostly sunny, some wind and the temperature was about 15° C. Two different methods of sample collection were used. One method was to search under stones, on concrete, rocks and wooden stakes. That was used to find the species that lives attached to surfaces or those who are hidden. The second method was to use a landing net. This survey gives no indications that there are any populations or even some separate individuals of invasive species in the port of Halmstad
