Abstract [sv]

There is an undefined area between the endurance of an appliance to transients and the demands of the high current regulations. These require the mains user to limit the occurrence of transients. Should transients occur in this area they will result in extensive damage and because of this great care must be taken in planning installations. The amount of electric and electronic apparatus in homes is constantly on the increase leading to an ever-increasing susceptibility to interference. This in turn demands apparatus that really must hold up to EMC directives. Even rapid power cuts with a residual current breaker can affect electrical apparatus. Measurements and interviews show that transients occur regardless of when the power is cut or restarted as well as what type of load is applied. The more power cuts, the higher the possibility something will happen to the electrical installation.
