Abstract [sv]

The specified purpose was, based on gender, age and type of employment, study the employees motivation to participate in health projects and their reason to maintain exercise habits after the termination of the health projects. Exercise frequency was studied in relation to the other background variables. A revised version of the questionnaire Motivation for Maintenance of Exercise Habits (Josefsson, 2005) was distributed at Albany International, Halmstad. The most frequent cause to exercise was “enhance my condition”. The most frequent obstacle not to exercise was “It is hard to fit exercise into my schedule”. Total 50 percent of all the respondents answered that they do not participate in the health projects. The bicycle project “Albanytrampet” had the highest adherence (n=30) and nine of those participants have maintained the activity after the termination of the project. The foremost motive to continue an activity was “exercise is a part of my lifestyle”. The health visionary has, trough the different health projects, influenced one third (n=28) of all respondents to exercise to a larger extent than before. The most frequent strategy to facilitate participation in health projects was “Exercise partner/Instructor/Personal support”.

The conclusion of how to get the employees to maintain the activity even after the project has ended and implement exercise in their weekday is that they need too feel some kind of inner motivation. In some way they have to feel satisfaction during the performance of the activity and understand that the exercise is good for them.
