2002 (engelsk)Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Oppgave
Abstract [en]
The problem statement was to find out how Swedish and Italian female directors experience the recruitment process and their contribution to the boards of directors. Further more was the objective to investigate Swedish and Italian researcher’s opinion about the recruitment process and the women’s contribution to the boards. The conclusions are that all the interviewed women believed that networks and personal relations are the only recruitment methods for women to get admittance to board of directors. Female directors possess a lot of self-confidence and ignore any perceived problems they may encounter when working on boards. Researchers believe that this is probably why they are in the positions they hold today. Several of the respondents also emphasized the importance of solving women’s possibilities to participate on boards. Possibilities that are reduced because of home care and limit the availability to work the amount of professional hours a manager position requires.
