Project Soundmodule is a final thesis project with development of a new product at the University of Halmstad. The project is done by Mats Ahlstedt and Kristoffer Ekman in co-operation with Trivector System AB, during autumn 1998 and spring 1999. The purpose of the project is to develop a soundmodule for automatic call out of bus stop names in vehicle for public transportation. This is a way to increase the grade of service to the passengers. Trivector System AB's vehicle computer, Triveco 7, initiates the call out. The new soundmodule consists of a single board PC with audio interface and a flashdisk. The bus stop names are stored in the Mp3-format. Each 2-sec bus stop name takes approximately 20kb storage on the flashdisk. The project members developed the program that controls the soundmodule for this purpose. The program DosAmp is used to play the files with the bus stop names.
