Abstract [sv]
As a first step in RMV AB goal to make precision irrigation possible, they want their irrigation computers able to communicate via SMS. Our goal was to construct an irrigation computer prototype for RMV to develop and test ideas for the next generation irrigation computers. The prototype has the properties of the existing irrigation computer with the additional ability to communicate via SMS. It is developed around an ARM7 processor powerful enough to handle future demands. To communicate with SMS, and in the future GPRS, a GSM-modem is connected through a RS232 interface. This makes it easy to change modem if other attributes are needed. To facilitate further development a JTAG interface is implemented for ISP and debugging. Also a software library is written for all of the prototype’s functions, including a method for receiving and interpreting a SMS message.
