Syftet med uppsatsen är att studera den moderna generationsromanen Bright Lights, Big City av Jay McInerney och romanens relation till den medeltida legenden om Parzival i Wolfram von Eschenbachs version. Min utgångspunkt är att pröva Suzanna Diskays idé om hur Bright Lights, Big City anknyter till det mytiska mönstret om personlig utveckling (initiationsresan), kopplat till jakten på GRAL, som skildras i Parzival.
